Travelling Around Old Ladoga at Home

     Exactly this year is the year of 1250th anniversary of Old Ladoga, the first “window into Europe” in the history of Russia. A gift-book “At the sources of Northern Russia” published by Russian-Baltic information center “Blits” will assist not to pass by this event. The book represents a colorful album of amazingly beautiful photographs. They show the picturesque landscapes of northern nature, the architectural monuments of the ancient Ladoga land, the archeological finds, the evidences of the rich cultural traditions of the inhabitants of this land: the Finns, the original nation, the Slaves reclaiming the forest area of the Northern Europe; the Scandinavians moving along the international ways and settling in the early trade-craft centers. A wonderful Finnish printing art allows conveying the fullness of this cradle of the Slavic nation, feeling the warmth of our ancestors’ hands through the breath of history. The book was published with the financial support of Leningrad region authority. It will become a wonderful gift the regional schools and libraries.
