The exhibition of runic stones

     Since August 7 till August 31 the unique displays of the exhibition “The Vikings at East” were presented in a showroom of the archeological museum of Old Ladoga. The runic stones are the treasures of an ancient Scandinavian history. The runic writings cut on them are the most ancient pre-Christian writings, which were widespread in the Middle Sweden on the island Gotland. The Swedish collection of the stones traveled around the Baltic countries and Russia, went to Karelia and Tver and is demonstrated now in Old Ladoga due to the cooperate efforts of Conservation area “Old Ladoga”, the Historical museum and Stockholm Swedish Institute.
