On the day of anniversary

     More than 500 official guests came to Old Ladoga from abroad and former Soviet Republics, different cities and regions of Russia including the delegations from the oldest cities of Russia: Belozersk and Pechory. The officials from the authority of Leningrad region with acting Governor V. Kirillov and the administration of St. Petersburg visited the celebration. The authorities of Volhovsky district and Old Ladoga region hosted the guests.


- More than 1600 singers and dancers performed a celebratory concert program. About 60 groups from Volhov, New and Old Ladoga, Sys’troy, Volhovsky district participated in the show.

- 30 folklore ensembles spectacled on the stage near the building of the district administration. On the stage near the city entertainment center a brass band of the Military Medicine Academy played. The performance of the ensemble “Gypsy yard”, “Singing guitars” and Yuriy Loza was a tremendous success.

- On August 16 a TV show “Play, my favorite accordion” was shot showing a folklore band “Chastushka” of Gennady Zavolokin.

- Old Ladoga fortress turned into a stage for the theater shows. The professional and amateur actors played in a musical-poetical show: From where the Russian land began”. The Drama Theater of Pskov and a theater from Norway performed the landscape plays in the evening.

- 23 trade companies and the individuals from Volhov, New Ladoga, Volhovsky district and other cities and regions of Russian drove a brisk trade. There were plenty of goods to watch and to buy at the fair called “the City of Craftsmen”.

- The festive flashes of fair works flamed up in a night sky at about midnight.

- The sponsorship of the celebration was provided by: public company “Sys’ky ZBK”, Raipo, Elmenhorster LLC, “Korona” LLC, corporation Zarechieye, the north-west branch of the State Bank of Russia.
