“Boomerang” landed in Old Ladoga

An anniversary year attracted the attention of both Russians foreigners to Old Ladoga. The remarkable preparation for the anniversary served as a reason for organizing different events here including those of international kind. The year 2003 is a “European year of handicaps”. The target of this action is to facilitate people with the limited abilities to acquire the equal rights with the common citizens. The President of Russia by his order declared in Russian “The year of handicaps”. At the beginning of September the participants of the international run “Boomerang” arrived to Old Ladoga. This name embodies the truth that good generates good and the understanding of problems of the other people evokes to the same approach. “Boomerang” is a rally on the hand-controlled cars around the roads of Russia. The rally started in August in Moscow, continued in Yaroslavl and Vologda regions and in the beginning of September the hand-controlled by the handicapped drivers cars arrived to the Leningrad region at the border of which the sportsmen of the region joined the rally. In old Ladoga the sportsmen were welcomed with bread and salt and acquainted with everything that this land is famous for.
